This tool creates placeholder images with custom dimensions, colors, and text. Use them for wireframes, prototypes, and development before real images are ready. Generated as SVG data URIs — no server requests needed, works offline, and scales to any resolution.
Match your target dimensions: 1200×630 for social/OG images, 800×600 for blog posts, 400×400 for avatars, 1920×1080 for hero images. Using correct dimensions during development prevents layout shifts when real images are added later.
These are for development only. For production placeholders (before user uploads), use low-quality image placeholders (LQIP), BlurHash, or solid color backgrounds with proper width/height attributes to prevent Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS).
Always set width and height attributes on <img> tags, or use aspect-ratio in CSS. This reserves space before the image loads. Combine with a LQIP (tiny blurred version) or background-color placeholder for the smoothest experience. The new CSS content-visibility property can also help.
