Soft UI shadow generator — create neumorphic elements with live preview.
background: #e0e0e0; box-shadow: -10px -10px 20px #c1c1c1, 10px 10px 20px #ffffff; border-radius: 30px;
Common questions about the Neumorphism Generator.
Neumorphism (new + skeuomorphism) creates soft, extruded UI elements using dual box-shadows — one light and one dark — on a matching background color. Elements appear to push out of or sink into the surface, creating a clay-like 3D effect.
Set the background to match the page background, then add two box-shadows: a light shadow (top-left) and a dark shadow (bottom-right). For example: box-shadow: 5px 5px 10px #d1d5db, -5px -5px 10px #ffffff. The pressed state inverts to inset shadows.
Neumorphism has significant accessibility concerns — the soft shadows provide very low contrast between elements and backgrounds, making it hard for visually impaired users to distinguish interactive elements. If using it, add clear borders, focus indicators, and ensure sufficient contrast ratios.
Neumorphism works best for portfolio sites, creative projects, or decorative elements — not for complex applications with many interactive elements. It struggles with: dense UIs, small elements (shadows need space), dark mode (limited shadow contrast), and accessibility compliance.
